There really isn’t anything quite like a city break. A quick jaunt to another country and another city can be just what the Dr ordered. Sure, lengthy week-long holidays are not to be sniffed at and days spent sunning ourselves at the beach are up there. But a long weekend city break can really serve as the instant reset we need.
From Paris to Venice to Amsterdam there is a city break for everyone. Whether you like to jump on a bike and explore, shop till you drop or indulge in all the food and wine, you’ll want to look fabulous doing it. So, to banish the hand-luggage only blues we’ve put together our easy shopping guide to make sure you look chic on your Spring city break this year.
Unlike the beach a city break isn’t the place for a quick crocheted cover-up. You’ll need to remember that you’ll be mingling in amongst the locals going about their daily lives, and sporting a sarong as a dress will be a no go in the city. Instead opt items such as tailored shorts and a crisp linen shirt. Pack some palazzo pants for those evenings when the temperature might have dropped a bit and keep dresses loose and in classic colours. The idea is breathable and light garments, a classic look that is uber comfy without compromising on style.
Team with some canvas pumps or a slip on flat so you’re able to put the miles in and then add a basket bag for extra fashionista points.
Extra-large sunnies, wedges or flats, a palazzo pant is a city break winner. Consider tying a scarf to your bag which can be used as a wrap if your start to feel the chill.
A smock style dress can be worn both day and night; A lace up sandal will add a little twist on a lunchtime stroll, while a stacked wedge will add a touch of glam come evening. Keep bags clutch size to balance out the volume of the dress.
