Following on from my last post talking about the autumn trends I’m looking forward to wearing, I thought I’d start off with perhaps my favourite of the seven I mentioned: the chunky cable knit and midi skirt trend.
Not only is it oh so wearable, but it doesn’t entice you into buying trend-led items which won’t carry you through to the colder months of 2018 too. Chances are, you already own a midi skirt or two, and everyone loves a thick chunky jumper as we make our way into autumn and the blustery mornings and dark brisk evenings which accompany it.
It’s ‘trendy’ without looking too fashionable, it’s comfortable and effortless, and it’s so easy to put your own originality into it – vital when we’re talking trends and fashion. As we read the trend reports each season, sometimes it’s difficult not to get too swept up into what’s hot, and what’s not, and ultimately, what will work seamlessly with your own style. We want to follow the trends but don’t want to run the risk of simply looking like everyone else either, which is why it’s so important to put your own stamp on it.
Whether you buy high-street, invest in a few designer pieces, or even frequent the charity shops, you’ll no doubt find a midi skirt to suit your taste. If you’re worried about looking frumpy, try out different lengths, prints, colours and textures – and try pairing with heels, trainers or loafers to see which suits you best.
I’ve selected a few of my favourite midi-lengths below – from the high-street to the more luxurious – which will all work perfectly for this new season trend.
