Okay, so you won’t technically find ASOS on the high street but the online shopping site has more than earned themselves a spot amongst our heroes of retail. Since the launch of the site in 2000 ASOS has led the way in fashion-led online shopping and has quickly become the go-to site for a quick and affordable fashion fix.
This online giant may not have the long history of some of our more traditional high street brands but in the 14 years since its launch it has established itself as a key player in the online shopping arena. The idea was born in 1999 by founders Quentin Griffiths and Nick Robertson who wanted to start a website that let people find clothes or accessories they had seen celebrities wearing; the company name is actually an abbreviation of the original website name “As Seen On Screen”. From their beginnings as a “get the look” website their brand had grown into an internet sensation and now ships to over 234 countries, all from their base in the UK which boasts a 1.1 million square foot distribution centre.
Their collections range from high street to high end and with over 65,000 branded and own label products we challenge you to not find what you are looking for. Their own ASOS label produces trend-led, quick fix fashion at affordable prices and their regular offers and sales means that you can almost always pick up a bargain. They are also one of the first places to find new hot brands and the ASOS marketplace showcases some of the best independent boutiques from around the world.
Without a physical store ASOS can focus solely on providing an excellent online shopping experience for its clientele. From their user friendly site, look books and style tips to the regular offers and flash sales, they are a company that keeps their customers at the very forefront of their business. The ASOS magazine which is delivered monthly is much more than just advertising and is a must read for those who share the brand’s passion for fashion.
For tech-savvy fashion lovers ASOS is a lifeline for fashion emergencies (next day delivery), fashion dilemmas (speak to one of their personal stylists) or even just to pass the time “window shopping” on your commute and with a ridiculously long list of awards under their belt ASOS shows no signs of slowing down. ou might not find ASOS on the high street but you will definitely find them in our Google favourites.
