It has to be said, London Fashion Week is one of the biggest annual events for the fashion industry. From it’s launch in 1984, the British Fashion Council have focused every year to host one of the most spectacular fashion and trade shows in the world. Between the dates of September the 14th-18th of this year, London will be charmed by collections from existing, new and upcoming designers who will showcase some of their finest apparel. The official LFW website has been frequently visited here at the MSL HQ as we have been sure to keep up-to date with the weeks schedule and list of featuring designers. The event looks set to be a knock-out and here is what we can expect to see…

Paying homage to somee of Britain’s very own designers, we’ve taken a look at what we may expect from Burberry. In their spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection, Christopher Bailey’s designs were a paean to handcrafts: crochet, beading, carving, weaving, braiding, printing. Following on from this, the Fall 2012 collection also showcased Bailey’s attentive eye to detail, shapes and the science of fabrics. Perhaps for the 2013 collections, we can expect to see Burberry play with colours, creating desirable palettes for the spring wardrobe.

Christopher Kane, one of London’s most prized designers, always makes a mark at the fashion shows, dazzling the crowds with his symbolic and energetic designs. The Spring 2012 collection championed metallics and intense, focused craft. Then, his fall 2012 collection beguiled us all with the seductive colours of autumn whilst indulging in the shadows and light created by metallics. So maybe this September we might see Kane shift the focus from romantics and intensity to something more playful and mischievous.

Lastly, all eyes have been on Stella McCartney’s Olympic designs for Team GB. Her last two collections demonstrated her attentive eye for the feminine figure, comfort and practicality, with effortlessly beautiful designs fitting the models with pure ease. Perhaps for her Spring 2013 collection she will push the boundaries of balance and create with her adventurous side. Perhaps then we can expect to see daring shapes, colours and textures.
